           Caving club Karlovac was founded on 18th October 1996. The basic goals of the Club are aimed at the research and protection of speleological objects (caves and potholes) formed in the karst of Croatia and abroad. The members of the Club have achieved valuable results in their former activities and the Club itself has become one of the most active caving clubs in Croatia. At the moment the Club has about 40 active members, and it provided the basic caving education for about 120 members during the last eleven years.            Caving Club Karlovac is an active member of the Croatian Speleological Federation and our members are active in numerous bodies of the Federation, such as the Management Board, various professional commissions, exeminmation boards, etc. Being a member of the Croatian Speleological Federation, our Club is also a member of the International Union of Speleology (Union Internationale de Spéléologie – UIS), as well as a member of the Association of Technological Culture Karlovac, the Association of Technological Culture   of Karlovac County, the Sports Association of Karlovac and the Sports Association of Karlovac County.            Alongside its primary activity – speleological research – the Club is involved in a number of other activities, such as education, publishing, organisation of gatherings, etc. The results of our research are being published in Speleo’zin, a magazine published by the Caving Club Karlovac. Eighteen issues of the magazine were published so far, while the issues 19 and 20 are in course of preparation. Many public lectures and exhibitions were organised aiming at the promotion of speleology. Inspired by the national cavers’ gatherings in some West-European countries, the Caving Club Karlovac has organised seven annual Croatian Cavers’ Gatherings, five of them in Ozalj and two in Kamanje. The Club also organises various seminars, lectures, courses and caving education.
